Adèle Clark's remembrances of the Equal Suffrage Movement in Virginia, 1964.

Two reels of sound recording tape of Ms. Clark's remembrances of the Equal Suffrage League in Virginia from 1909 through 1920, and of the League of Women Voters after 1920. The first interview was conducted by Mr. Winston Broadfoot, Duke Director of the Flowers Collection. The second appears to have been conducted by two sudents of Professor Anne F. Scott after the examination of Ms. Clark's papers. These recordings have been duplicated for research use on cd-roms.

The Equal Suffrage League of Virginia was organized in 1909 in Richmond, Virginia. Its primary purpose was to publicize and propagandize women's issues in the state, with the goal to win the political vote. Virginia was one of the six states which did not ratify the amendment.
